What is a CI?
The Common Interface (CI): allows you to use view encrypted channels using a Common Interface Module (CIM). The Common Interface is available as a PCI card or a module for the 3,5" drive bay. To make use of the interface, you must have a CI module which is essentially a PCMCIA card. Two of those PCMCIA CIMs can be inserted into each CI.
