(Answer) (Category) linuxdvb.tv FAQ : (Category) Hardware :
What is the difference between normal and low-budget cards?
The low-budget card (WinTV NOVA) does not have an MPEG decoder or a CI Interface on board. It only supplies the transport streams from the satellite transponders. You need a softer MPEG-2 decoder to view the streams. The driver for the cards supplies software demuxing. This card can be used to do recordings or to perform timeshifting together with a full featured card.
